Midday Escape

Our firm had one recently-hired intern architect who never show up their first day. Never heard back as to why, but we reached a reasonable conclusion. However, Nate Anglin’s 3 Significant Lessons Learned After A New Employee Quit Midday surely raised a few eyebrows, if not a hackle or two.

“All team members take part in enforcing the standards. One thing that drove the new hire out was our commitment to our standards. We repeat them in every meeting. We use them in training sessions. When an issue occurs, we attach it to a standard and explain why it’s crucial. All new hires must embody the companies big objective, expectations, values, and the attitude they must possess to grow.”

from 3 Significant Lessons Learned After A New Employee Quit Midday by Nate Anglin

Having to chant the standards at every meeting? Yikes. I’d have been gone before the 10am coffee break.

And that bold statement about driving out employees as a commitment to the standards, holy cow. Oh, I kid the CEO. But I do hope the marketing director writes the office inspirationals.

I wonder, do they tickle the new hires until they show the proper attitude?

I hear the Fearless Leader has an opening… and he might well have a better retention rate.
